About Us

Why do you sell products if you are a charity?
Fledglings' role as a charity is to supply products that help improve the lives of disabled children and their families. We want all of our products to be affordable to anyone who needs them, which means that many of them are subsidised. All of the surplus from the sale of products sold by Fledglings is invested back into the organization. Our running and staffing costs are low, but we do need additional funding to keep going.

How is Fledglings funded?
Fledglings is funded from the sale of products and from charitable grants and donations.

I'm looking for something that I can't see in your brochure. Can you do anything to help?
Yes. Our brochure features products which we supply regularly; we know of and are able to supply many others. Please contact us if your child has a particular problem, and you are not sure what the appropriate product solution is – we are likely to be able to help.

I would like to support Fledglings. How can I do this?
We are always looking for case studies of children we have helped. If you could supply a photo of your child with a story about how a product from us has helped, this can help other parents understand the difference that Fledglings can make, and it can also help us explain the impact of our work to organizations which might support us financially. You can also help us by:

Do you provide any funding for products?
Fledglings does not offer any funding. However we may offer some suggestions of organisations to contact which help advise about potential sources of funding. Also see our useful links page .

Ordering

How do I place an order?
Orders can be placed in the following different ways:
1. Listing the items required in an email to enquiries@fledglings.org.uk
2. By telephone to the Fledglings office on 0845 458 1124, during normal office hours, Monday to Friday 9.15am to 5pm.
3. By post using the order form click here to download an order form.
4. By fax to 0845 280 1530 using the order form above

Can I purchase items online?
You can view a list of our products online but currently we do not offer the facility to purchase products and pay through the website. However, if you call or email us, we can supply the products you want. 

Why can't I buy online?
Fledglings is a small charity, and at the moment we don't have the resources available to be able to sell online. But rest assured we are gving it serious consideration.

Can I use a purchase order?
Yes, we are happy to accept purchase orders from schools and organisations.

How do I pay for my order?
Payment is required in advance. You can pay by debit card, Bacs transfer, cheque, postal order.

How do I know if an item is in stock?
We make every effort to ensure that our most popular items are always in stock. Also, most items can be ordered in promptly even if they are not in stock. Please do contact us if you would like to find out if an item is in stock.

How do I know what size clothes to order for my child?
We list some measurements in our brochure but if you are in any doubt please contact us by phone or email. If an item is in stock we will happily measure it for you.

Can I return clothing which has been tried on?
We will accept returns of items that have been carefully tried on and when returned are in the same condition as when they were received from Fledglings. When assessing the sizes of underwear and other close fitting garments please take particular care to ensure your child is clean and if possible try the garment over other clothing.

The item I ordered is the wrong size or is not suitable. How do I return it?
If the item you have received is not right for your child please contact us within 7 days of receipt and then return it to us by post. We can then offer you a replacement or refund. Unfortunately we cannot cover any postage costs incurred by you in returning the goods and we also require payment of the original postage and packing.

Delivery

How long does delivery normally take?
If the item you order is in stock it will usually be sent to you the same week. If the item is not in stock we will order it in for you and it will be sent within 28 days (but typically around 2 weeks). If we cannot send you your order within 28 days we will contact you. Please let us know if your item is required by a particular date and we will try our best to accommodate that. If it is your first order please allow time for payment to be received before we despatch your order.

Can you despatch outside the UK?
We can despatch to the Republic of Ireland, however, we cannot (yet) send items to any other countries.

How will my order be despatched? 
Your order will be sent by Royal Mail packet post, second-class, to your address or an alternative delivery address if you supply us with one. Larger items may be despatched directly from the manufacturer.

Where is my order?
If you have not received your order within a couple of weeks, please contact us and we can let you know how your order is progressing.

Christopher's disability means that he finds it very difficult to grasp objects. His parents had found a special cup which Christopher was able to drink from himself, giving him some independence. When the family needed more cups they were told that the supplier had discontinued it.

After searching for the cup in vain the family came to Fledglings. Using our contacts we managed to locate the cup and supplied more to the family. This cup is now in our product brochure so is supplied to more young people like Christopher.
