The 1-Up Hair Tie is a helpful device to create a ponytail, pigtails, buns, or headbands for people with one-hand or reduced hand function. It consists of a long elastic with a toggle that can be used with one hand or residual limbs. The product is easy to use and helps individuals maintain independence despite mobility challenges.

Product Description
The device consists of a long hair elastic with a toggle on it. You can use it to create a ponytail with one hand or with hands that have reduced function by putting the elastic around your head and pulling. You can then wind the excess string around the ponytail. There are several methods of using the 1-Up Hair tie to suit different abilities.
This product is extremely useful. Once you know how to use it (and I was able to do it from the very first time I tried), it’s very easy to make a pony tail. This product shows that once things are adapted, it’s very easy to be independent.

You can use the 1-Up Hair Tie if you have:
- Broken your shoulder, arm or wrist
- Paralysis in the hand, arm or shoulder
- A limb difference affecting your hand(s) or arm(s)
- Other upper limb mobility challenges
- Put the hair tie in with one hand, residual limbs, two hands or your feet!
Will the 1-Up Hair Tie Work for Me?
With the 1-UP Hair Tie there are a few things you need to be able to do, no matter your abilities and differences:
- Can you put a headband in your hair? (Part of setting up the 1-UP to make a pony tail)
- Do you have strength needed to pull the elastic tight? (Need to be able to pull tight to get the best hold on your hair)
- Can you reach the top or back of your head? (Need to be able to reach a little to guide your hair to the desired pony tail position – and to wrap or pin up the loose ends of the elastic)

Fledglings currently offers shipping to the United Kingdom only online. For orders outside the UK please contact us for further details as we can usually arrange shipping at an additional cost.
Shipping in the UK.
Shipping will be calculated at checkout. Where items come from just one supplier the following rates will apply. When items are purchased from multiple suppliers an extra amount will be added at checkout to contribute to the shipping costs. This helps us keep the prices as low as we can. As a one-stop-shop, we aim to make it cheaper to shop in one place that buy from multiple online retailers and pay shipping costs at each one.
Second Class Royal Mail shipping is £4.99.
First Class Royal Mail shipping is £6.25.
- For First Class shipping, the order must be place before 12pm.
- All First Class orders placed after 12pm will be despatched the following working day.
- Our warehouse is not opened on weekends and Bank Holidays. First Class orders placed during these days will be despatched on the following working day.
- Dropship items are not available for First Class shipping - please check the listing under the shipping information BEFORE ordering to see if an item is coming direct from our supplier.
- Some suppliers may not be able to ship larger items to NI the Shetland Islands, Jersey or Guernsey. If they do there may be an extra cost. Please ask BEFORE placing your order.
Please note: First Class shipping does not guarantee next day delivery. We will ship as stated above, but once the item is with Royal Mail it will be for them to deliver as quickly as they can.
